Under the terms of the agreement, Flow will supply equipment and engineering support to Motivatit Seafoods. The first system is scheduled to be shipped in May to begin production of processed oysters. Preliminary research has indicated that the process decreases Vibrio vulnificus to undetectable levels. This bacteria of concern, that can be found in raw oysters, raw seafood, and in the marine environment, can be destroyed by the application of hydrostatic high pressure without altering the texture and flavor of the product. In addition to the bacterial destruction, an oyster is also "shucked" during the ultrahigh-pressure process, providing tremendous labor saving benefits. Both the reduction of the Vibrio vulnificus bacteria to undetectable levels and the shucking of the raw oyster are "patent pending" by Motivatit Seafoods, Inc.
